Perfumes inspired by the complex interplay of natural ingredients, connection to the past, and mysterious alchemy that occurs when they are blended. Many of these oils have been in continuous use over thousands of years as aphrodisiacs to attract lovers, in spiritual practices, in beauty rituals, and to indicate social status. This connection to the past is quite compelling and I enjoy imparting a modern perspective on historical formulations.
I enjoy foraging ingredients to create tinctures and often include rare elements such as ambergris to create signature fragrances.
Natural ingredients change from year to year, this unpredictability combined with the expense of materials found in nature has ensured the popularity of synthetics with large perfume houses. As a small perfumer, I appreciate the personality of these precious ingredients and I'm able to create limited editions based on quality and availability from year to year.
My formulations include precious absolutes, essential oils, woods, and resins in organic ethanol or fractionated coconut oil (an unscented "dry" oil). On the rare occasion that a high-quality man-made ingredient is included to provide a unique facet, it will be noted. For the most part, synthetic ingredients are avoided.
